Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 14, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how Numio ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information when you use our website (the "Service"), accessible at https://numio-facts.xyz.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways:
Information Collected Automatically (Usage Data):
- Vercel Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how visitors interact with our Service. Vercel Analytics collects aggregated data such as pages visited, referrers, country of origin, browser type, operating system, and device type. It is designed not to use client-side cookies for tracking and aims to avoid collecting personally identifiable information (PII). IP addresses may be processed briefly but are not stored or displayed in a way that identifies individual users. For more details, please refer to the Vercel Analytics Data Collection documentation and Vercel's Privacy Policy.
- Server Logs & Backend Interactions (Supabase): Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) and backend service provider (Supabase, used for features like the fact counter) may automatically log information when you access the Service. This can include your IP address, browser type, operating system, access times, and referring website addresses. This information is primarily used for security monitoring, diagnosing technical problems, and aggregate statistics. Supabase acts as a data processor when handling requests related to site features. Refer to Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- Theme Preferences: We use
localStorage
in your browser to store your preferred theme (light, dark, or system) for the Service. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Information You Provide Directly:
- Contact: If you contact us via email (contact@promtex.xyz), we will collect your email address and any other information you choose to provide in your message to respond to your inquiry.
Information Related to Fact Fetching (Proxy):
- When you request a fact (e.g., for a specific number or date), your request is sent to our server-side proxy, which then queries the Numbers API (http://numbersapi.com). While we don't intentionally log the specific numbers/dates requested alongside identifiable data, the IP address making the request to our proxy will be processed as part of standard server logging (as mentioned above). The Numbers API itself will also process the request according to its own policies.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for various purposes:
- To provide, operate, and maintain our Service.
- To improve, personalize, and expand our Service.
- To understand and analyze how you use our Service (via aggregated analytics).
- To monitor the security and performance of the Service.
- To respond to your comments, questions, and provide support via email.
- To operate backend features like the aggregate fact counter (via Supabase).
3. Legal Basis for Processing (for users in the EEA/UK)
If you are from the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, our legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described above will depend on the information concerned and the specific context.
- We primarily rely on legitimate interests to process Usage Data for analytics, security, and operational purposes, provided these interests are not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.
- Processing your email address when you contact us is based on your consent (implied by contacting us) and our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries.
- Storing theme preferences in
localStorage
is typically considered necessary for the functionality requested by the user.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: With third-party vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as website hosting (Vercel), backend services (Supabase), and analytics (Vercel Analytics). These providers have access to information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
- Third-Party Links: Our Service contains links to third parties (Numbers API, Stripe for donations). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or a government agency).
5. Data Retention
We retain Usage Data collected by Vercel Analytics and server logs for a period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, such as for analysis and security, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Emails received via the contact address will be retained as long as necessary to address the inquiry or for record-keeping purposes.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect the information we collect. However, no internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Your Data Protection Rights
Depending on your location (especially if you are in the EEA, UK, or California), you may have certain data protection rights:
- The right to access, update, or delete the information we have on you (primarily applicable to contact emails).
- The right of rectification.
- The right to object to processing.
- The right of restriction.
- The right to data portability (likely not applicable given the nature of data collected).
- The right to withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent).
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at contact@promtex.xyz. We will respond to your request in accordance with applicable laws. You may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
8. International Transfers
Your information, including Usage Data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ. Our hosting (Vercel) and backend (Supabase) providers operate globally. Your use of the Service followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.
9. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold depending on the jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under this age. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
